Moving Forward

My wonderful husband has been doing a fantastic job and I'm enjoying every minute with him. However I still feel insecure.

Moving forward means having to leave some things behind. Maybe I'm trying too hard to drag everything and everyone along with me.

It's an emo day. :(

First update after the Wedding - Sad pics of naked men

Whoa haven't updated for so long... Kinda dusty in here -cough-

So much to say about the wedding! Want to complain about vendors, spill the bloopers and most importantly Give Thanks!.... but I'm still waiting for more photos from our photographers to go along with the post.

Just wanna comment about the article I read on MSN news: http://news.sg.msn.com/article.aspx?cp-documentid=2678362&page=1

About two dozen male students wanted to state the bare facts and voice what they say is the naked truth … so they staged a nude protest around the streets of Manila's "University Belt".
The light-hearted demonstration by members of the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity was a comic response to a column written in a Philippine newspaper columnist that had branded the group as a 'gang'.
The students also took the opportunity to complain about a looming tuition fee increase.
They want the Philippine government to impose moratorium on fee hikes due to the global economic crisis.
As you can see they had nothing to hide except their faces.
Monday's protest drew a big (and highly amused) crowd. Police officers were at hand but took no action.
Clicks on the numbered boxes for more images ...

I know they were doing it for a good reason - The amount undergrads pay since our time have been (increasingly) disgusting (especially when you know where the money goes. Ask Eugene!).

However, the focus shifts when they tell you at the end that there were 9 pics showing them in full glory. Like any normal person you'd click! That's what I did, and all that were shown were skinny racks of ribs and blurred out pruney butts.

Wah lau. No wonder they wore ski masks... :p

Painting and Pirates of the Caribbean

On Chu Xi, I'm painting door frames and practising "He's a Pirate" , the theme song from Pirates of the Caribbean.

If only you can see me playing our grand piano with paint on my clothes and hair in between drying coats.

The goal is to upload my first piano video on YouTube. Have seen other Pirate videos and a lot of them are playing a simpler version - the left hand is not as gruelling as the one I've been practising. And the comments to them were good job u're a genius I wish I could play like you. I wonder what sort of comments I will get.

Woo hoo.

Very soon, I will be famous.

Ok better stop dreaming. Who do I think I am? I'm F***ing painting doors on Chu Xi!!

Restlessness

That's what I'm feeling nowadays. My friend was telling me that she wants to quit her job and take up something really different, like flower arrangement. I thought it was a great idea and I'd like to join her - she'll do flowers and I'll grow bonsais into vulgar shapes.

Today was a no-lesson day and I spent the time re-typing 3 practical worksheets, running around school catching people to go for science remedial, getting cupboards made for band and guitar, and played superhero by freeing a colleague who was locked up in the Maths room by an idiot student.

Rushed down to Eunos to meet Eugene to choose our wedding car before the showroom closed. He was all black-faced cos he waited too long and said he'd never trust me again (to be punctual). I was mad for the entire afternoon until he got Choey to come over to talk to me.

Sometimes I wish I had done my honours and continued my studies. Then I can be like Eugene who gets paid even when he sits at home with his parrot, eating oranges and playing computer games.

Can't wait for SYF to be over soon. =gloom=

Happy Birthday Yen Swee

It's a Friday and everyone was flying around for classes, CCAs, department meetings, making students stay back and other sian school stuff AFTER curriculum time. Hate Fridays. People are suppose to dress down, slack and make merry. I THANK GOD FOR SATURDAYS.

Was really lacking in manpower while preparing the birthday celebration cos everyone was so busy. Yen Swee was NOT suppose to know what we were doing so that he'd be surprise and overjoyed and touched to tears. I mean, it's supposed to be different and who said birthdays must have cake? So it was Shh and shhh there... when he walks past cover this cover that. Then our cover was blown when he told me my food was ready for collection downstairs.. kuakuakua

What the heck... might as well get him to carry his own pizzas since there was no one else to help.

Looks nice right. Birthday boy has to blow all the candles at one go. Mary said I will have bao ying during my wedding dinner.

No one understood his Korean birthday song.

Supposed to do it all in one breath but he cheated.

We ate from the greasy box.

He ate like a King.

The celebration interrupted his meeting. I bet he was secretly happy.

Happy Birthday Yen Swee! May all your dreams come true la.

What's with Ang Moh Airports?!

My 16-year old brother was detained by London Airport customs when he arrived, like how I was detained in Adelaide Airport a couple of years ago for over an hour. These were the questions they asked:

Where are you heading to?
My ans: My boyfriend's flying school.
His ans: My brother's hostel.

Do you know its address?
My ans: Nope. He's picking me up.
His ans: Don't know. He's picking me up.

How much money did you bring?
My ans: Not much.
His ans: I'm broke.

I don't believe you can be travelling alone like this. You're just a kid!
My ans: Why.. thank you :D
His ans: Ok I know I'm short. You racist or what?

How many people are there in your family? What are you planning to do here? How will you celebrate Xmas? Tell me about your bf... blah blah blah...

And they just kept asking stupid questions while pouring everything from your luggage, swabbing your toothpaste, checking your wallet, and before you know it, you have already told them things even your mother don't know about as they shake your loose beige granny panties to see if anything falls out.

Conclusion: If you are a young Chinese, travelling alone and you do not know exactly where you are going, be prepared to lose your dignity, be detained and checked for drugs.

Ulu Sunset Chicken Wings and Chocolates

Choey took over the wheel one day....

.

.

and drove us to the notoriously difficult to find Sunset Grill and Bar!!!

Like a pro he located it deep inside the curly wurlys of Seletar Airbase.

Although I honestly have tasted better hotdogs...

and Eugene's grilled fish looked like hospital food...

Their BUFFALO WINGS made the trip worthwhile!!!!!!

Can't even sit still to take a photo. Kids.

Burp, said Choey

Eugene was like "go for the level 10 wings and nothing less!!" Turned out that Level 2 was already very very siong but also very very song!!

As Choey puts it, 2 thumbs up!!

.

.

.

.

Eugene returned from Chiang Mai with customised chocolates for us!!!!

I'll wait until after the wedding when my weight won't matter and then eat them.

Choey knows that something is wrong with his name but he can't quite put his finger on it. Poor Choey.. Always get bullied by Daddy...

NUS Softball Team is selling similar customised chocolates for Valentine's Day! Go to http://lywk.x10hosting.com/chocoholics/ if you want to give something different this year!

2008 O level results for Chemistry

O level results were released today.

Last night Lincoln saw me on msn and asked if I was excited.. to be honest it totally slipped my mind. If you were like me typing out wedding dinner schedules and contact lists and only remembering that I have yet to have dinner at 10.30pm, you'd understand.

I came to school and the first thing I managed to squeeze in doing before flag raising was to transfer a deposit of 1.3K to my photographer and videographer via internet banking. Then of course it's the classes I go to on a Monday, and at about 9 am Mrs Chang came running to my cubicle and exclaimed that we hit a 55% distinction, and 100% pass for Chemistry. I swear it took at least 5 seconds for it to take meaning - that no one failed (I have some who I've thought were pretty gone cases in my class) and that 1 out of every 2 students scored an A.

WOW

Well I did a lil jig with her, and rushed to do what every teacher was doing, be the kiasu aunty and nudge people out of the way to see the namelist. Kiwi was overwhelmed, poor thing. But no one cared. LOL No one scored lower than a B3 from my class! NO WAIT... WHO IS THIS PERSON WHO SCORED A C6?!??!??!?! ok, nvm, just 1 person.

We got to the hall at 2pm, and I realised my heart was jumping jumping. I have no idea why since I already knew their results like 4 hours ago. The P as usual took forever to do his speech, but I must say it felt real good to see that Chemistry was almost the only subject (other than Tamil) to perform better than the 2007 batch.

Was half cursing that I had to bring my current 4E6 out of the hall and back into the chem lab at 2.30 when the rest was dismissed. I was the most unpopular teacher there but HEY I want to stay in the hall too with my ex-4E2s!!!!!!!!! Bugger.

Well four ex-students actually located me in the lab... almost cried when 3 of them thanked me.. The 4th one almost did it when he who told me I owed him 1 mark (he scored an A2 instead of an A1). I didn't know what to say. Had to get back to the lab before I burst into tears.

Another student whom I taught chemistry to when he was in sec 3 smsed me to thank me. I have this feeling he probably smsed everybody who ever taught him.. even VE teachers. Was glad that I was important to him too!!!!!

The best part was hearing my my brother's results. That bugger scored 5 A1s, 2 A2s and a dumb B4 for English. Damn it. Told him since primary school to read more books that lazy bum. But I'm proud of him. Eugene is even prouder and said that he sees some of himself in Sijun. Just cos they are both 9 pointers. Idiot.

Ok back to mundane school life tmr. And Yen swee please don't ever buy salmon rice for me again.. the portion is meagre and I still smell it it my mouth :S

=update=
Another 4E2 student smsed me his thanks... :'(
OMG I'm feeling emo now
